Jagged Little Pill y Moulin Rouge! encabezan la lista de nominados al Tony 2020 que este año es mucho más corta que de costumbre.

Este año hay pocos nominados al Tony 2020, de hecho en la categoría de revival no hay ni un sólo musical nominado, pero eso no signficia que los pocos nominados que hay no sean fuertes contendientes en una carrera que incluye las mejores obras y musicales en Nueva York de todo 2020 -previo al cierre de teatros, claro está.

Con 15 nominaciones, Jagged Little Pill, el musical basado en el disco de Alanis Morissette del mismo nombre, se coloca como lider en las categorías y se vuelve oficialmente el musical más nominado de este año, seguido por muy poco por Moulin Rouge!, basado en la película de 2001 de Baz Luhrmann, que tiene 14 nominaciones.

Por parte de las obras de texto es la controversial Slave Play la que lidera las nominaciones en 12 distintas categorías, seguida también muy de cerca por la obra en dos partes The Inheritance, que se avecina con 11 nominaciones.

Actores de categoría «A» como Jake Gyllenhal, Tom Hiddleston y Laura Linney también consiguieron sus respectivas nominaciones gracias a obras como Sea Wall/A Life, el revival de Betrayal y My Name Is Lucy Barton.

Y Aaron Tveit, sí, básicamente está compitiendo solo en la categoría de Mejor Actor Protagónico en un Musical porque pues sí… son las cosas que pasan con la pandemia.
